This is Melody, she is our super star patient and you may have seen her on the news. She is undergoing treatment for burns from an animal cruelty case. As you can expect, we have been overwhelmed with calls and visitors from loving animal owners. The outpouring of support from the community has been a bright light in such a terrible situation for Melody. Unfortunately, Melody cannot have visitors nor can we disclose all of the details of her case, as she requires aggressive treatment for her wounds and will be healing for quite some time to come and has a long road to recovery.

We welcome any donations for Melody’s continued care, as the expenses will be significant for medical treatment. Donations can be made via the pay pal link below. We are also able to accept donations at the hospital of dog treats, toys, cards, etc. if you would like to show Melody your support. All of us at the Cobb Emergency Veterinary Clinic would like to say thank you for your continued support.

Update #1

Today Melody had her third anesthetic procedure for wound care and bandage change. She did very well under anesthesia and her wounds look as good as can be expected. Melody woke up from anesthesia and immediately wanted to eat and then took a long nap. She looked like she was chasing a rabbit in her dreams. This is all good news as it shows her pain is controlled. Melody wants to thank her supporters for her Iams treats and her new blanket.

Update #2

Melody continues to improve. She is walking better and even using her injured paws to make her bed fluffy. Melody had her bandages changed with heavy sedation today. Her wounds look much improved. We are very encouraged by this and hope that she will not require any skin grafts. Today Melody did not require as much pain medication and she remains very comfortable and playful. She is such a trooper and amazes her veterinarian daily with how brave and strong she is

Update #3

Melody continues to astonish us with her improvement. Her wounds look amazing (especially compared to initial presentation), and it looks like she will not need skin grafts or transpositions. In fact, she has progressed so far that she has been discharged and is now living with a friend of the hospital. She comes back every 2 days for bandage change and only requires light sedation for the procedure.

Melody wants to thank everyone who dropped off toys, blankets, and treats, particularly the treats. She very much enjoyed them while learning to sit and shake.

Update #4

Here are some cute photos…please share them with everyone along with this message from MV.

My new name is Melody Victoria (added b/c I’m victorious). I want to send a very special thank you to all of you who worked so long and hard to get me to this point. Because none of you gave up on me, I didn’t give up on me either, even though I wanted to. I felt your love and prayers. Thank you for controlling my pain, cleaning my wounds, and cleaning up after me for so many days. I’m having a great time here and every day I feel better and better. Thank you very much for loving animals and helping us when we need it most! MV

Update #5

Melody presented in high spirits for her bandage change. She has one remaining bandage on her left rear limb. She wears booties on the other limbs for protection. She is no longer painful because we were able to change her bandage without any sedation! Her remaining wound is still healing beautifully. The tissue appears viable and the healing process is underway as she shows signs of being “tickled” when manipulating her feet!
