Examination
Every pet that enters Cobb Emergency Veterinary Clinic (CEVC) for treatment receives an examination by an attending clinician. The Doctor will discuss your pet’s condition with you and help you decide on the best treatment plan for your family member.

Lab Work
CEVC has a large range of laboratory capabilities. Diagnostic blood samples can be collected and run at any hour using our sophisticated in-house laboratory equipment. In cases where results may not be needed immediately, or where specialized testing is required, samples will be sent to an outside diagnostic laboratory.  Blood, urine, and fecal samples can be viewed in-hospital for rapid diagnosis.

Radiography
Radiographs (commonly referred to as X-rays) are often used as a diagnostic tool. There is a radiology machine and a processor that are always on and ready to use at any hour of the day or night.

Ultrasound
CEVC Doctors have the capability to perform limited ultrasound imaging on an emergency basis. In specific cases this can help to diagnose fluid around the heart, pericardial effusion assist in safely obtaining samples of urine, abdominal fluid, or thoracic fluid, or even looking for masses.

Hospitalization
Should your pet need to stay with us for a short period, overnight, or over a weekend there are warm comfortable cages with pads to safely house your cat or dog of any size. Your pet is always visible to the critical care doctors and technicians. Cages are equipped with fluid pumps and oxygen outlets. All cages/ICU units can be modified to provide portable intensive monitoring devices and heat support. Specialized oxygen cages/ICU units are available and can be adjusted to provide oxygen, and/or regulate temperature and humidity. Additionally, we have the ability to house exotic pets in and incubator to provide the same ambient modifications.

Specialist Consultation
If your pet needs a consultation with or treatment by a specialist, we do our very best to coordinate with your primary care veterinarians to arrange a plan for further care. The fact that CEVC is housed in the CVERC with several specialty practices is a great advantage to you and your pet.
