Triage
The emergency service at CVERC does not schedule appointments. All pets are examined on a first come, first served basis depending on the severity of the condition or injury. An animal in critical condition will be seen and stabilized prior to animals that do not have life threatening injuries. It is not necessary to call in advance of your visit, however our staff may be able to provide you with information to make the trip to our facility more comfortable for your pet if you let us know you are coming. CVERC appreciates your patience and understanding if another pet is found to need attention before yours even though you may have arrived first. We know your time is valuable and will do everything possible to address your situation in a timely fashion. However, emergency conditions often require extended examination and treatment times, which may require you to have an extended wait.
Treatment Updates
Our staff is committed to ongoing communication with you during your pet's hospitalization. One of our Doctors will talk with you at least daily about your pets condition, and confirm a continuing plan of care.
Visitation
We are happy to allow visitation but due to certain safety factors (such as gas anesthesia and radiographs) we ask for your cooperation in keeping visiting time short. If a large group wishes to visit an individual pet we will need to divide the visitors into smaller groups so as not to disturb neighboring animals who may require as quiet and low stress environment as possible. Doctors may request owners avoid visiting in certain circumstances where a pet may become aggitated to a point that it may affect a positive treatment outcome (imagine a pet who is in heart failure seeing a family member and getting themselves worked into a frenzy thinking they are going home when rest is an essential component of their therapy).
Going Home
At the time of discharge complete written instructions are provided outlining the follow-up care and medications required for your pet. The customer service representative will review the instructions and recommendations with you addressing any questions or concerns you may have.
Keeping Your Family Veterinarian Informed
Your pet's family doctor is considered an important part of the team. A complete copy of the record, including laboratory work is faxed to your pet's regular doctor after the visit to help provide a continuity of care. We ask that you take any radiographs that we send home with you to your primary care veterinarian so they can remain on file.
Estimates & Payment
Every effort is made to discuss fees prior to and during treatment and hospitalization. Payment is due at time of service. We accept cash, checks, and specified credit cards. Care credit applications are available to assist you in meeting the financial needs of your pets care.
